Ozone is a natural gas and a powerful oxidising agent. When dissolved in water, ozone produces a wide-ranging biocide that is lethal for all bacteria and viruses. The natural oxidising agent is 51% more powerful than chlorine and acts more than 3000 times faster.

What makes ozone so efficient? The high biocidal efficiency of ozone is the result of oxidising the organic material in the membrane of the bacteria, deteriorating and breaking the cell, which leads to its imminent death. Due to this, ozone is an ultimate method against all bacterial, biofilm, viruses, argues or any other pathogens, with no possibility of resistance, build-up and it leaves no residues behind. Ozone, when applied correctly, is safe and secure.
Remember that smell of freshness and pureness after the thunderstorm? One of the reasons for the freshness is ozone. 

Thunderstorms create the clean, sharp scent of ozone, which is caused by lightning and other electrical discharges in the atmosphere. Hence all of us had been exposed to the marvels of ozone – that feeling that you cannot get enough of the clean air! You will notice the smell of ozone as ozone scent is very distinct, and our noses can pick up the smell with the concentration as little as 0.01 ppm (parts per million). Remarkably, you will also notice that the scent disappears quickly, which is another of the characteristics of the natural gas- ozone reverts backs to oxygen after 20-30 minutes, leaving nothing but oxygen around.

Ozone had been used in drinking water for over a century, and due to its unique disinfectant qualities and friendliness towards the environment, the usage of onsite-generated ozone is continuously increasing.

Ozone, unlike other gases, can not be collected, stored and transported due to its rapid decomposition to oxygen, therefore ozone must be produced on-site. In the industrial setting, ozone is created by passing high amounts of energy or optical energy through the flow of oxygen. This process forces oxygen atoms to decompose and force the diatomic oxygen (O2) to re-attach with other oxygen molecules and ozone is formed.
